Authorities are actively searching for an unknown Hispanic male suspect following a violent confrontation at a local retail establishment. According to official reports, the individual is described as having a large facial scar and was last observed wearing a gray shirt, black pants, and carrying a black cross-body bag. The incident occurred on Tuesday, May 20, at approximately 1:20 p.m. at a Walgreens store located in the 1300 block of University Boulevard. Investigators state that the suspect was initially spotted concealing merchandise inside the store before being confronted by a security guard as he attempted to leave the premises. When the guard blocked the exit, the suspect allegedly became aggressive and brandished a metal icepick-like tool. He then struck the guard in the face, causing minor swelling to the victim’s left eye. A brief struggle ensued before the suspect dropped most of the stolen items and fled on foot toward Prince George’s County. Officers arrived shortly after and recovered several items believed to hold evidentiary value at the scene. The investigation remains ongoing as detectives work to track down the individual. The Takoma Park Police Department is asking anyone with information about the suspect’s whereabouts or the assault to contact them immediately.
