Baton Rouge police are actively searching for 20-year-old Tyson Wright, who is wanted on charges of attempted murder and rape. The suspect is alleged to have attacked a woman inside a residence located on Geronimo Street in Baton Rouge. According to law enforcement reports, Wright struck the victim in the head with a firearm, beat her, and then stabbed her seven or eight times in the chest using a pair of scissors. The victim also alleges that Wright raped her during the incident. She sustained serious injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment before relocating to another state to live with family members. The victim did not provide an in-person statement until recently, which prompted the issuance of the arrest warrant by Baton Rouge police this week. Wright is currently at large. Investigators have uncovered a significant violent criminal history for the suspect dating back to when he was 15 years old. In 2022, Wright was arrested for the murder of 36-year-old Dolores Jackson, who was killed by a stray bullet during an argument among teenagers on Cadillac Street. Although District Attorney Hillar Moore charged Wright as an adult, a grand jury declined to indict him, resulting in his release. Two years later, Wright was arrested for battery and strangulation of a dating partner. He pleaded guilty to simple battery in 2025 and has been on probation since. Wright repeatedly failed to appear for court hearings, leading a judge to issue a bench warrant for his arrest in April, which remains unexecuted. The Baton Rouge Police Department is urging the public to assist in locating Wright. Individuals with information regarding his whereabouts are encouraged to contact the Baton Rouge Police Department or the local tip line immediately.
