Los Angeles police are searching for a suspect at large following a fatal shooting that occurred Thursday evening in the Mar Vista neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. The incident took place around 5:15 p.m. near the intersection of South Centinela and Mitchell avenues. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, multiple bullets were fired on a Culver CityBus, resulting in the death of a man in his 40s. While police have not officially confirmed the identity of the victim, multiple news outlets report that the deceased individual was the driver of the bus. The victim was transported to a local hospital but was pronounced dead. A witness, Katty Garcia, told reporters she heard three shots and went outside to investigate, only to find medics performing CPR on a man with a head wound who had been pulled from the bus. Police spokesperson Officer Charles Miller stated that the suspected gunman is a white male who fled the scene on a bicycle. The case is currently being handled by the LAPD’s West Bureau Homicide unit. Culver City Mayor Freddy Puza issued a statement expressing deep sorrow over the loss, calling the incident a senseless act of violence. Puza announced that Culver CityBus service will be suspended throughout the weekend to allow the transit agency’s team time to grieve. Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding the suspect’s whereabouts to come forward. The suspect remains at large as the investigation continues.
