The San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office has identified three men who are currently at large and considered armed and dangerous following the kidnapping and murder of 57-year-old Avtar Singh. Singh, a father of newborn triplets, was abducted in broad daylight from a Sikh temple in San Joaquin County, California, in February. His body was discovered three days later in a lake in Napa County. Investigators believe the crime was a case of mistaken identity, as the suspects were allegedly targeting a different individual involved in a trailer theft. Following Singh's death, the suspects fled to Canada, where authorities interviewed the intended target. The suspects have since been indicted on charges of murder and kidnapping. Capt. Joe Petrino with the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office named the individuals as 25-year-old Alberto Alencastro, 20-year-old Alfonso Segura Arellano, and 22-year-old Barnabe Segura Arellano. While the suspects have ties to Mexico, their last known location was reported to be Vallejo, California. Sheriff Patrick Withrow emphasized the severity of the crime, noting that Singh was taken from a place of worship for a theft unrelated to him. He described Singh as a generous community member who cooked for the temple and maintained the building. The suspects face life in prison without the possibility of parole. Sheriff Withrow has pledged to the victim's wife that law enforcement will not rest until all three individuals are apprehended. Authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant and report any information regarding the whereabouts of Alencastro, Alfonso Segura Arellano, or Barnabe Segura Arellano. The investigation remains active as law enforcement continues to search for the fugitives across the region.
