The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) is actively searching for a suspect wanted in connection with an attempted kidnapping incident that occurred on October 1, 2026. The suspect is described as an unknown male with brown curly hair, last seen wearing a black hoodie and black gloves. The incident took place near the victim's home in the 600 block of Alexander Road, close to Otis Park at 700 Iowa Avenue. According to police reports, the victim, a pre-teen girl, was playing in her backyard when she threw a ball over a fence. Upon retrieving the ball, she was approached and grabbed by the suspect. The girl managed to escape by striking the suspect in the face with her shoe and running to Otis Park, where she sought help from a bystander. The victim was not physically harmed. CSPD officers, supported by a drone from the Real Time Crime Center, canvassed the area immediately following the report but the suspect remains at large. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities believe this may be an isolated incident. CSPD is urging residents living near the 600 blocks of Alexander Road and Prairie Road, as well as anyone with surveillance footage of suspicious activity around the time of the incident, to come forward. The public is asked to contact the CSPD non-emergency line at 719-444-7000 with any information. CSPD Public Relations Manager Ira Cronin commended the victim for her quick thinking and reminded parents to discuss personal safety with their children, emphasizing the importance of staying aware of surroundings and reporting any unwanted contact to law enforcement immediately.
