Authorities in Vienna, Georgia, are actively searching for suspects following a mass shooting that occurred early Sunday morning at a large neighborhood block party. The incident, which took place over a four-block radius in the rural community, resulted in two fatalities and left nearly three dozen individuals injured. The victims identified as deceased are Jaquevion Jackson, 21, of Cordele, and Macaleb Jackson, 23, of Hawkinsville. Both were pronounced dead at the scene with fatal gunshot wounds. The injured, ranging in age from 14 to 51, were transported to several regional hospitals, with some reported in critical condition and others stable. Dooly County Sheriff Craig Peavy noted that more than 50 shots were fired in at least two locations approximately a block apart. Deputies were near the scene when the initial gunfire erupted, but additional shots were fired shortly after their arrival, complicating the response. The event drew more than 1,000 attendees and coincided with homecoming weekend for Dooly County High School, though officials clarified it was not a school-sponsored event. As of the latest reports, no arrests have been made, and the motive for the violence remains unknown. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is assisting with the ongoing probe. Law enforcement officials described the scene as horrific and overwhelming, noting that the sheer volume of gunfire and the number of people present made it difficult to immediately assess the situation. Residents described hearing a constant barrage of shots that sounded like rapid-fire weapons, causing panic among the crowd. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward. No suspects are currently in custody, and the individuals responsible remain at large.
