The Izard County Sheriff’s Office is actively searching for Joel Griffith, a 51-year-old white male classified as a high-risk Level 3 sex offender. Griffith, who stands 6 feet tall and weighs 190 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes, is wanted for failure to comply with sex offender registration and reporting requirements, a Class C felony. He was charged on Monday in Izard County Circuit Court after investigators determined he manipulated the registry system by listing an address where he did not reside. The incident centers on a residence on Pleasant Ridge Road in Oxford, Arkansas. According to authorities, Griffith reported moving to this address on September 15, prompting a community notification. However, by late September, he claimed he was relocating to Little Rock with his mother. Investigators began looking into his whereabouts on September 28 after speaking with his wife, who stated he was in Little Rock but had been unreachable. A compliance check on October 2 by Investigator Runyan and Sheriff Charley Melton confirmed that Griffith had never actually lived at the Oxford address. Further investigation revealed a pattern of false disclosures, including previous arrests in July 2025 in Fulton County, Arkansas, and July 2026 in Denton County, Missouri, where he listed the same Oxford address while bonding out or failing to register. Sheriff Charley Melton stated that Griffith appears to be attempting to hide his true location to avoid scrutiny. Since January 2023, Griffith is the 24th person charged in Izard County with a sex offender registry violation.
