Roswell Police Department is actively searching for Samuel Ray Ramirez, 47, who remains at large following a violent incident in Roswell, New Mexico. The suspect is wanted in connection with an aggravated battery charge stemming from a stabbing that occurred on September 22. According to reports, the incident took place around 7:40 p.m. in the 70 block of G Street, an area locally referred to as 'the base' in south Roswell. At the time of the attack, the victim, a 43-year-old man, was standing outside in front of a residence. He was assaulted by two men and sustained serious injuries from a stabbing. Investigators believe the violence was preceded by a verbal altercation between the victim and at least one of the suspects approximately one hour prior to the attack. While police successfully located and arrested the first suspect, Phillip Napoleon Contreras, 55, at a different residence in the south part of the city on the same night, Ramirez has not yet been taken into custody. Authorities continue to urge the public to assist in locating the second suspect. Anyone with information regarding Ramirez's whereabouts is asked to contact the Roswell Police Department immediately at 575-624-6770.
