The Austin Police Department is actively seeking a suspect in connection with the homicide of 66-year-old Jeffrey Grable, who was found fatally injured near a CapMetro bus stop in North Austin. The incident occurred early Tuesday morning, with officers responding to a welfare check call around 5:17 a.m. in the 1000 block of Norwood Park Boulevard. A bus driver discovered Grable bleeding on the ground, and he was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:34 a.m. Investigators believe Grable had been lying near the stop for several hours prior to the assault. An unknown suspect approached him, caused fatal trauma, and then fled the scene. APD has released surveillance photographs of the potential suspect, described as a Black male in his 30s, approximately 6 feet tall and weighing 185 pounds. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, black pants, white shoes, and a backwards cap. While surveillance cameras at the bus stop were reported as out of service by CapMetro, the photos were obtained from a nearby gas station. The Austin Police Department is urging anyone with information regarding the incident, or those who were in the area that night, to come forward. Individuals with photos, videos, or other evidence are asked to contact APD directly or submit tips anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program. Tips can be submitted by visiting austincrimestoppers.org, calling 512-472-8477, or contacting the Austin Police at 512-974-TIPS. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to identify and apprehend the individual responsible for Grable's death.
