Investigators with the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office are searching for multiple suspects wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of 17-year-old Braylon Diaz. Diaz, a junior at Washington High School and active member of the school’s soccer and football programs, was walking with his girlfriend near 102nd Street S and S Sheridan Avenue in Parkland, Washington, just before 7:15 p.m. on Sunday, May 24. According to law enforcement, a group of individuals in a red four-door Nissan stopped the teens and demanded Diaz’s necklace. After Diaz complied and raised his hands, the suspects opened fire, killing him. Witnesses describe the shooter as a male with dark hair, dark eyebrows, small eyes, and apparent Islander or Samoan heritage. Detectives have released surveillance footage of the suspected vehicle and are asking anyone with security video or photographs from a five-mile radius of the scene around 7:13 p.m. to come forward. The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office has classified the suspects as extremely dangerous, cautioning the public not to approach unfamiliar vehicles and warning of a potential risk of reoffending.
