The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a person of interest wanted in connection with a deadly double shooting that occurred early Saturday morning in Converse, Texas. The incident took place around 5:52 a.m. in the 6200 block of Binz-Engleman Road, outside an unlicensed hookah lounge. According to Sheriff Javier Salazar, two males armed with guns emerged from a crowd of people lingering in the parking lot after the business had closed, leading to a shootout. One victim, a 33-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene after being shot multiple times in the upper body, neck, and head. A second victim, a 37-year-old man, was found shot twice in the upper body inside a vehicle and was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. Investigators have not confirmed the identity of the deceased, but the surviving victim is reported to be alert and talking. The suspected shooter, described as a black man of unknown age wearing all white with a white bucket hat and dreadlocks, fled the scene on foot and remains at large. Authorities consider the suspect armed and dangerous and have warned the public not to confront him. While speculation suggests the shooting may stem from a dispute over a female, this remains unconfirmed. Investigators have detained several individuals, including a young woman who was live-streaming the aftermath, and recovered a firearm found approximately 1.5 miles away, though its connection to the crime is not yet confirmed. The sheriff’s office is urging anyone with information to contact them at 210-335-6000, email BCSO_tips@bear.org, or submit a tip through the agency’s app. Residents in the area are asked to remain vigilant for any evidence that may have been left behind.
