Richard Pastor Perez, 49, remains a wanted suspect in connection with the murder of his estranged wife, Marjulin Daiuru Briceño Arrieta, 42, and an ongoing missing person investigation in Texas. Authorities consider Perez armed and dangerous, and his whereabouts are currently unknown. The suspect was identified through surveillance footage captured during a targeted anti-crime operation at a hotel in Albuquerque, New Mexico, which coincided with the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta. Detectives with the Albuquerque Police Department’s Auto Theft Unit were assisting the Denton Police Department when they ran the Texas license plate of a white SUV and discovered it had been reported stolen. Surveillance video showed Perez parking the vehicle and walking away. Although the vehicle has been recovered and processed by APD’s Crime Lab for potential evidence related to the homicide, Perez himself has not been apprehended. Denton authorities have issued a murder warrant for Perez, and he could still be in the Albuquerque area. The Albuquerque Police Department continues to coordinate with Denton police investigators, the FBI Dallas, and other federal and out-of-state law enforcement agencies as the investigation proceeds. The public is urged to remain alert and assist in locating the suspect. The Denton Police Department and FBI Dallas are asking for information regarding Perez’s whereabouts. Individuals with tips are encouraged to contact Denton County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-388-8477 or visit www.dentoncountycrimestoppers.com. A cash reward of up to $2,000 is offered for information leading to Perez’s arrest. Tips can be submitted anonymously to Denton County Crime Stoppers. This case remains active, and law enforcement emphasizes the potential danger Perez poses to the public.
