Pierce County Sheriff’s detectives are actively seeking the public’s assistance in locating Kyler W. Lawrence, who is now wanted in connection with the tragic death of his five-year-old son, Brentlee Lawrence. A felony warrant for first-degree manslaughter has been issued for Lawrence, who is currently at large. The case originates from an incident on March 13, 2025, when deputies responded to a medical aid call at a residence in the 14900 block of 66th Avenue Court East in Pierce County. Upon arrival, officers discovered the young boy unresponsive. He was transported to a local hospital but was later pronounced dead. Autopsy results confirmed that Brentlee died from acute fentanyl toxicity. At the time of the incident, investigators found drug paraphernalia throughout the home, which was described as being in deplorable conditions, including a lack of running water and unsanitary living environments. The boy’s mother, Jordan Shank, initially told deputies she had fallen asleep with her son and woke to find him unresponsive. Shank was arrested for manslaughter in May 2025 after blood tests confirmed the cause of death. However, Lawrence, the father, fled the scene before law enforcement could establish probable cause for his arrest at that time. On October 13, 2026, detectives announced that new information has come to light, prompting the issuance of the warrant for Lawrence. Authorities are urging anyone who has information regarding Lawrence’s whereabouts or who sees him to contact law enforcement immediately. The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public to call 911 with any tips or leads that could assist in the apprehension of the suspect. This case highlights the severe consequences of drug abuse and neglect on vulnerable children, and law enforcement continues to emphasize the importance of community vigilance in solving such crimes.
