Authorities in Oklahoma County are searching for a burglary suspect who remains at large after escaping a deputy on October 1, 2026. The incident occurred near the intersection of Sunset Lane, Harrah Road, and Britton Road, where a deputy responded to reports of a forced entry into a vacant home. Body camera footage released by the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office captures the moment the deputy confronted the suspect inside the property. The suspect, who was allegedly stealing copper wiring from appliances and walls, fled deeper into the house and jumped through a closed glass window, shattering it in the process. Despite the deputy’s attempts to pursue him, the suspect successfully evaded capture on foot. Following the escape, law enforcement deployed a patrol car and a drone to track the individual, but the search proved unsuccessful. A nearby residence was also searched without locating the suspect. However, the suspect inadvertently left behind a backpack containing his driver’s license, which significantly aided identification. The license was issued in California. According to Aaron Brilbeck, spokesperson for the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect has a prior criminal history in the county, including charges related to theft, drug offenses, and assault. The suspect’s name has not yet been publicly released and will be disclosed once formal charges are filed. The Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the burglary and urges the public to remain vigilant. Anyone with information regarding the suspect’s location or activities is encouraged to contact local law enforcement. The suspect is considered dangerous and is currently at large.
