Authorities are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred late Tuesday night at an apartment complex on the northwest side of Oklahoma City. The victim has been identified as 45-year-old Floyd Williams, who was found dead from gunshot wounds shortly after police arrived at the scene around 10:00 p.m. Investigators believe Williams was involved in a physical altercation with an adult male inside the apartment prior to the shooting. The suspect fled the residence before law enforcement could arrive, and as of Wednesday morning, no arrests have been made. Police have not yet released a description of the potential suspect or additional details regarding the dispute that escalated into violence. The incident marks the 30th recorded homicide in Oklahoma City for 2026 and the sixth fatality this month. Officers processed the crime scene in the 4000 block of Northwest 23rd Street, located between Portland Avenue and Meridian Avenue, before departing late Wednesday. The Oklahoma City Police Department Homicide Division is actively seeking the public’s assistance in locating the individual responsible for Williams’ death. Investigators are urging anyone with information regarding the shooting, or any other ongoing homicide cases, to contact the Homicide Tip Line at 405-297-1200. The department noted that this case joins five other gun-related killings in the city this month, alongside a pair of non-fatal shootings near the Paycom Center on May 16. Detectives are continuing to canvass the area and analyze forensic evidence to identify the fleeing male. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The investigation remains ongoing as detectives continue to review evidence and interview witnesses.
