Nashville police are actively searching for Ross Peterson, a 38-year-old man accused of severely injuring a woman with a hammer. The incident occurred on Saturday morning in Nashville, Tennessee, at the victim's residence. According to law enforcement, officers had responded to the home earlier that day after the woman reported receiving threatening text messages and Peterson showing up at her doorstep. During that initial encounter, officers assisted the woman in obtaining an order of protection and a harassment warrant, which was issued around 6:15 a.m. Police then escorted the woman back to her home. Shortly after their departure, Peterson returned to the property. The victim reported seeing him vandalizing her car and went outside to confront him. It was during this confrontation that Peterson allegedly attacked her with a hammer, causing extensive injuries to her head and face. Responding officers recovered the weapon as evidence and noted that Peterson also took the woman's cellphone. Warrants for aggravated assault, harassment, and theft of property have been issued for Peterson. He is currently on probation for a felony methamphetamine possession conviction in Williamson County. Despite ongoing efforts, police have not yet located Peterson. Authorities urge anyone with information regarding his whereabouts to contact Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463 or the Department of Emergency Communications at 615-862-8600. The investigation is ongoing as authorities continue to seek the suspect.
