Clark County authorities are currently seeking the public's assistance in identifying a male suspect involved in a series of suspicious incidents near Battle Ground, Washington. The investigation centers on a residential burglary that occurred on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at approximately 1:30 p.m. According to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO), the suspect entered a homeowner’s shed and stole fishing gear. During the incident, the individual reportedly kicked the back door of the residence while the homeowner was inside. Upon being yelled at by the homeowner, the suspect dropped the stolen items and fled the scene. However, the man did not travel far before approaching a different home in the area. A Ring camera captured footage of the suspect on the front porch of this second residence, where he knocked on the door and asked a neighbor for a ride to Yacolt. The suspect identified himself to the neighbor as "Derek." An unaware good Samaritan subsequently provided the man with a ride. The CCSO is urging anyone who may recognize the individual or has information regarding his identity to come forward. The investigating agency is asking the public to contact Deputy Stubbs directly via email at Damon.CasettaStubbs@clark.wa.gov. Authorities emphasize that the suspect is currently at large and request community vigilance. Residents are encouraged to review any security footage from the Battle Ground area around the time of the incident that may help identify the man. The investigation remains active, and law enforcement continues to seek the suspect's apprehension in connection with the burglary and the subsequent suspicious behavior.
