The U.S. Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force is actively searching for Rudy Barbosa, a 45-year-old convicted felon who remains at large. Barbosa is wanted on a federal arrest warrant for allegedly violating the conditions of his supervised release, as well as an active Bexar County warrant for third-degree felony assault of a household member by impeding breathing or circulation. Authorities allege that Barbosa attacked a woman twice during a domestic violence incident. In the first incident, he grabbed her by the neck with enough pressure to restrict her ability to breathe. Investigators say he attacked her a second time, wrapping his arm around her neck and applying pressure that caused breathing difficulties and a panic attack. Physical evidence, including visible redness and abrasions, is consistent with the victim's account. Barbosa was previously convicted in federal court in 2023 of being a felon in possession of a firearm. He was sentenced to 42 months in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release. The new assault charges are alleged to have violated the terms of that supervised release, triggering the current federal warrant. Barbosa is described as Hispanic, standing 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighing approximately 180 pounds. He has black hair, brown eyes, and a distinctive tattoo of red lips on the right side of his neck. His last known address was in the Highland Park neighborhood on San Antonio's East Side. The U.S. Marshals warn that fugitives may change their appearance to avoid recognition. Anyone with information regarding Barbosa's whereabouts is urged to contact the U.S. Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force at 210-657-8500 or submit a tip through the U.S. Marshals Service Tips app. Barbosa is featured in this week's Marshals Most Wanted on FOX San Antonio.
