Jonathan Bays, 41, is currently at large following a violent incident in California. Authorities describe him as a transient from Idaho who stands 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs 180 pounds. He is known to go by several aliases, including Mike, Michael, and Aaron. Bays carries a prior conviction for sexual battery of a minor and has an active parole warrant from Idaho dating to 2025. He is wanted for allegedly attempting to murder another individual during a dispute at a residential gathering. According to law enforcement, Bays allegedly brandished a large samurai-style sword and struck the victim multiple times, including the wrist, hand, head, and shoulder. The injured party was subsequently airlifted to a nearby hospital. The attack took place on Saturday at the Creekside Apartments in Mariposa, California. Following the assault, Bays fled the premises and was last observed walking along a nearby trail. Investigators have classified him as armed and dangerous and are actively searching for his location. The Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office is coordinating the manhunt, deploying aerial assets and K-9 teams alongside neighboring agencies.
