Jacob Allen Morley, a 28-year-old convicted murderer, is currently at large following a dramatic escape from the Northwest Correctional Complex in Tiptonville, Tennessee. Morley, who is serving a life sentence for the 2022 first-degree murder of his former co-worker, Cody Birchfield, breached the prison perimeter fence late Sunday night. Surveillance footage obtained by authorities shows Morley leaving the facility in his prison uniform before allegedly stealing a white 2008 Ford F-350 pickup truck from the 400 block of Keystone Drive approximately two miles south of the prison around 1 a.m. Monday. The stolen vehicle, bearing Tennessee license plate 138BBQV and marked with the name Lindamood Planting Company, was later discovered abandoned in Marion, Illinois, indicating Morley traveled over 120 miles through Kentucky. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) has added Morley to its Most Wanted list, warning the public that he should be considered dangerous. Morley is described as approximately 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing 240 pounds, with brown hair and green eyes. Authorities have not yet disclosed how Morley managed to breach the secure perimeter. In response to the escape, the Tennessee Department of Correction has coordinated with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, including the Tennessee Highway Patrol, which has deployed troopers and aviation assets to assist in the search. Officials have searched and cleared buildings and structures in the surrounding area but have stated that Morley’s current location remains unknown. The TBI is offering a reward of up to $2,500 for information leading to Morley’s arrest. The Northwest Correctional Complex, located in rural Tiptonville near the Mississippi River, has previously faced scrutiny regarding staffing shortages and inmate violence. Authorities are urging anyone who spots Morley to avoid approaching him and to immediately call 911 or the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation at 1-800-TBI-FIND (1-800-824-3463) with any tips or information regarding his whereabouts.
