Authorities in Cascade County, Montana, are actively searching for Nathan Ross Harlan, who is currently at large and faces multiple criminal charges. Harlan, described as a 5-foot-9-inch male weighing 210 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes, is wanted in connection with a significant election fraud investigation. He faces four misdemeanor counts of accountability for deceptive election practices, stemming from allegations that he forged signatures on candidate nomination petitions in 2026. The incident occurred during signature-gathering efforts in the spring of 2026 for independent U.S. Senate candidate Seth Bodnar and independent U.S. House candidate Michael Eisenhauer. The campaigns had hired Ballot Access Marketing LLC, which subcontracted the work to Harlan and his company, Sun Belt Strategies. Investigators discovered discrepancies when Cascade County Elections Office employees noticed similar handwriting across petition entries in May and identified signatures that did not match voter records. Subsequent outreach to voters in four separate petition packets confirmed that the individuals in question had not signed the documents. Consequently, the signatures were not counted toward ballot qualification requirements. The county attorney’s office emphasized that no wrongdoing was found by the candidates, noting that both campaigns cooperated fully with the investigation. Harlan’s previous addresses have been linked to multiple states, including Ohio, Texas, Mississippi, Tennessee, Florida, West Virginia, Nevada, Arizona, and Alabama. The Cascade County Attorney’s Office is urging the public to assist in locating Harlan. Individuals with information regarding his whereabouts are asked to contact Detective Allison with the Cascade County Sheriff’s Office. Detective Allison can be reached by phone at 406-836-0010 or via email at nallison@cascadecountymt.gov. A press conference involving Cascade County prosecutors, sheriff’s office members, and the Montana Secretary of State’s Office is scheduled for Wednesday at 8 a.m. to provide further updates on the case.
