Authorities are conducting an islandwide manhunt for Jacob “Jake” Daniel Baker, 36, who is wanted in connection with a triple homicide on Hawaii’s Big Island. Described as 5-foot-9, approximately 190 pounds, Asian, with short black hair and a left cheek tattoo reading “La Flaquitas,” Baker is considered armed and extremely dangerous. Police allege that after an altercation at a communal residence on Papaya Farms Road, Baker murdered Bob Shine, 69; Chitta Morse, 79; and an unidentified 69-year-old man over the course of Monday and Tuesday. The victims were discovered in the Puna District and surrounding rural areas, prompting a high-alert search operation that has kept local residents on edge. Sightings have been reported in Kalapana, Pahoa, and near Leilani Estates, with law enforcement coordinating across multiple neighborhoods to locate the suspect. Hawaii Island Police Chief Reed Mahuna has designated the case as the department’s top priority, increasing patrol presence in the affected zones while urging the public to remain vigilant. Residents are strongly advised not to approach Baker but to immediately contact 9-1-1 if he is spotted.
