The Salem Police Department is currently seeking Daquhan Cromer, a 6-foot-2-inch male with short dreadlocks, who is considered armed and dangerous. Cromer, who is originally from South Carolina, is the subject of an ongoing manhunt after escaping from a transitional housing unit in December 2025. He has been on escape status with the New Hampshire Department of Corrections since that time and has multiple felony charges pending in Salem. Police lifted a shelter-in-place order early Wednesday morning following an hours-long search in the area of Millville Street and Taylor Street. Although the order was rescinded, authorities confirmed that Cromer was not located during the operation and do not believe he remains in the immediate vicinity. Despite the lifting of the shelter-in-place warning, police maintain that Cromer is still at large and poses a potential threat to the public. The suspect was previously arrested in 2019 after leading police on a high-speed chase through Salem in a stolen vehicle originating from Massachusetts, during which he allegedly struck multiple police cruisers. Residents are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity or information regarding Cromer's whereabouts to the Salem Police Department. The public can contact the department directly at 603-893-1911 to provide tips that may assist in the apprehension of the wanted individual. Cromer was last seen wearing a white tank top and dark pants. Authorities continue to emphasize that while the immediate shelter-in-place threat has passed, the suspect remains at large and should be approached with extreme caution by law enforcement only.
