Authorities are actively searching for Marco Ballard, a 17-year-old Black male, who remains at large following a police-involved shooting on Detroit’s east side. The pursuit began Wednesday afternoon when officers executed a search warrant at a residence near Moross and Kelly Roads. During the operation, a 20-year-old man allegedly discharged a weapon at officers inside a locked bedroom, prompting an officer to return fire and fatally strike the suspect. Two women and a child were safely evacuated from the property without injury. Investigators have linked the warrant to a separate incident last Saturday involving gunfire directed into an occupied home on Waltham Street. Police Chief Todd Bettison confirmed that Ballard is suspected of firing a rifle into that dwelling and remains the primary subject of the manhunt. Authorities emphasize that Ballard is considered armed and dangerous. The Detroit Police Department continues to canvass the neighborhood and review evidence to locate the teen. Residents who may have witnessed suspicious activity or possess information regarding Ballard’s whereabouts are strongly encouraged to come forward. Tips can be submitted directly to the Detroit Police Department or by calling 911. Investigators are urging the public to remain vigilant and avoid approaching the suspect while the investigation remains ongoing.
