Allan Adonay Contreras-Vasquez, a Honduran national and alleged member of the MS-13 gang, remains at large following a series of arrests and releases in Maryland. According to a statement released by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Contreras-Vasquez was initially detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on December 16, 2025, at the Prince George’s County Detention Center in Upper Marlboro. He had been arrested in Hyattsville, Maryland, in connection with an assault where a victim was stalked and stabbed multiple times. Despite an ICE detainer, Prince George’s County officials refused to honor it, resulting in his release. Subsequently, on February 18, 2026, he was formally charged with multiple serious offenses, including attempted first- and second-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and various assault charges. During the period between his release and the announcement of charges, a witness alleged that Contreras-Vasquez raped a 13-year-old girl in January 2026. He was arrested again in May 2026 but was released a second time in June 2026. DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin condemned the actions of sanctuary politicians in Maryland, citing the case as evidence of policy failures that allow violent criminals to remain in communities. Contreras-Vasquez is reported to have illegally entered the United States through Texas in August 2023. Authorities are urging the public to provide any information that could lead to his arrest. Individuals with tips are instructed to contact the ICE tip line at (866) 347-2423. The suspect is currently considered at-large, and investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding his repeated releases.
