Hawaiʻi Island authorities are actively searching for 36-year-old Jacob Daniel Baker of Pāhoa, who is wanted in connection with three separate homicides across the Puna district. According to the Hawaiʻi Police Department, the incidents occurred over a two-day period beginning Monday, May 25, and concluding Tuesday, May 26. The first death was discovered at a residence off Railroad Avenue, where a male was found partially submerged in a cement pond; an autopsy later confirmed the death is being treated as a homicide. The second victim was located at a home near Papaya Farms Road with apparent blunt force trauma, while the third deceased male was found on a property off Kalapana-Kapoho Beach Road approximately 19 miles away. Detectives have determined that all three deaths are linked and are actively pursuing Baker, whom officials describe as armed and extremely dangerous. At this time, investigators have not established a motive and are unsure whether the killings were targeted or random. Mayor Kimo Alameda and Police Chief Reed Mahuna emphasized that public safety remains the highest priority, urging residents to remain vigilant and avoid any direct contact with the suspect. Authorities are requesting that anyone with information regarding Baker’s whereabouts or any suspicious activity in the Puna area immediately contact law enforcement. Tips can be submitted by calling 911 for emergencies or the Hawaiʻi Police Department’s non-emergency line at 808-935-3311. The Area I Criminal Investigation Division continues to work around the clock, following leads and coordinating with partner agencies to locate the suspect and bring those responsible to justice.
