A deadly shooting incident has left one person dead and six others injured at a Spirit Halloween pop-up store located within the Solano Town Center mall in Fairfield, California. The attack occurred on Friday night, approximately around 8:30 p.m., when a lone gunman opened fire inside the retail space. Fairfield police have characterized the event as a targeted incident and confirmed that the suspect fled the scene before law enforcement arrived. As of Saturday afternoon, the gunman remains at large and is actively being sought by authorities. The FBI’s Sacramento Evidence Response Team has joined local detectives in the ongoing investigation. Jocelyn Lopez Tabares, a 15-year-old witness from Vallejo, was present at the store with her 23-year-old sister when the shooting erupted. Initially mistaking the gunfire for popping balloons, Tabares was pulled to the floor by her sister as panic ensued. Describing the terror of the moment, Tabares stated she feared she was going to die and subsequently recorded video footage on her cellphone to document the scene in case she did not survive. The footage captures the chaos inside the store as shoppers scrambled for cover and exited. Tabares later shared the video online to counter early rumors denying the occurrence of a shooting. Other witnesses, including Miena Davis, described immediate panic and the heartbreaking cries of a mother searching for her deceased child. The identity of the victim who died has not yet been released by authorities. Residents and witnesses are urged to contact the Fairfield Police Department with any information that may assist in locating the suspect. Tips can be provided through the investigating agency's official channels.
