Philadelphia police are actively searching for a suspect who remains at large after injuring two officers during an attempted arrest in North Philadelphia on Saturday evening. The incident began around 4:55 p.m. when an officer from the city's 24th District initiated a traffic stop for vehicle violations. Upon checking the vehicle information, officers discovered the driver had outstanding warrants, leading to a felony vehicle stop. Additional officers, including a lieutenant, responded to assist in taking the suspect into custody. According to Inspector D.F. Pace, officers made contact with the driver and successfully placed a handcuff on one of his wrists. However, the suspect broke free, returned to his vehicle, and accelerated away to flee the scene. During the escape, one officer was struck by the vehicle and thrown to the ground, while the responding lieutenant was also thrown onto the roadway. Both officers sustained road burns and abrasions but are expected to be treated and released, with no broken bones reported. The suspect fled before the arrest could be completed. Authorities have identified the man but have not released his name as the investigation remains active. Police noted that the suspect drove away with a handcuff attached to one wrist, though it is unclear if the restraint is still on him. The Philadelphia Police Department is urging the public to remain vigilant and report any information regarding the suspect's location. This incident highlights the dangers faced by law enforcement during high-risk stops and ongoing manhunt operations within the city.
