The New York City Police Department is actively searching for a suspect wanted in connection with a violent assault that left a local runner in critical condition. The victim has been identified as Katie Suarez, a 28-year-old woman who was stabbed multiple times in the neck while jogging on the Shore Parkway Greenway in Brooklyn. The incident occurred on Friday evening, approximately around 8 p.m., near the intersection of Shore Parkway and Bay 17th Street. Suarez, who was training for the upcoming TCS New York City Marathon, was attacked while running eastbound. According to police reports, Suarez had finished work earlier that day and met with her mother before heading out for her run. Her father had also planned to meet them and was in contact with her moments before losing communication. He discovered Suarez lying on the path with severe stab wounds to both sides of her neck and immediately alerted authorities. Emergency Medical Services responded quickly, transporting Suarez to NYU Langone Health, where she remains in critical condition on life support. Investigators believe the attack may have been random, but a definitive motive has not yet been determined. A physical description of the suspect has not been released to the public. The NYPD is urging anyone who may have seen Suarez on the bike path along the Belt Parkway, specifically between Bay 8th Street and Bay 17th Street, around the time of the attack to come forward. Signs have been posted in the Bath Beach area, and a reward of up to $3,200 is being offered for information leading to an arrest. The public is encouraged to contact the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline with any relevant tips or information regarding this assault.
