Ontario Police Department (OPD) is searching for a man wanted in connection with a felony assault that occurred on October 27, 2026. The incident took place at approximately 7:40 a.m. outside Alkali Rye on Grand Avenue in downtown Ontario. According to reports, the suspect approached an elderly woman and her daughter while they were walking on the sidewalk and pushed the woman in the chest without provocation. The force of the push caused the victim to fall and strike her head on the ground. She was transported to Highland Emergency Department for CT scans and is reported to be recovering. The suspect, described by witnesses as a 'scary dude' who may be mentally ill, fled the scene before police arrived. He has not been taken into custody. The victim’s daughter shared security footage and photos online, identifying the man as a 'Felony Assault Suspect at Large.' She noted that the suspect was seen by locals in the downtown area and neighborhoods near the lake. This is not the first time the man has been involved in a violent incident; he allegedly assaulted another individual by throwing a shoe at their head approximately two months prior, though he was not arrested at that time. The daughter has submitted an evidence form and visited the police station but has not yet been able to provide video evidence to OPD. Authorities have stated they have sufficient information to arrest the suspect if located. The community is urged to remain vigilant and report any sightings of the man to OPD. The suspect is considered at large and potentially dangerous to the public.
