Authorities in Matagorda County, Texas, are searching for 17-year-old Allen I. Dunlap, who is wanted on two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The warrants stem from a shooting incident that occurred early Sunday morning during a Halloween party in the Tidehaven area near Bay City. According to the Matagorda County Sheriff’s Office, a fight broke out inside a barn on the property where a group of teenagers from Bay City had gathered. As attendees began to leave the scene, Dunlap allegedly pulled out a firearm and fired multiple shots into the crowd. The gunfire struck two individuals, a 16-year-old and a 19-year-old, who were then pulled to safety by friends and transported to Matagorda Regional Hospital. Sheriff Rick DeLeon stated that both victims suffered serious injuries but are expected to make a full recovery. DeLeon expressed relief that the young victims survived the senseless act and assured the public that all available resources are being devoted to the investigation. The Matagorda County Sheriff’s Office is working in conjunction with the Texas Rangers and the Matagorda County District Attorney’s Office to determine the full circumstances of the incident. Dunlap remains at large, and investigators are actively urging him to surrender. The public is asked to assist in the manhunt by providing any information regarding the shooting or Dunlap’s current whereabouts. Individuals with information are encouraged to contact Sgt. Robert Pierce or Sgt. Keith Majors at the Matagorda County Sheriff’s Office by calling 979-245-5526. This case is currently under active investigation, and authorities continue to seek the apprehension of the suspect.
