Baton Rouge police have issued arrest warrants for two men, Kevonte Green and Franklin Bennett, following a robbery and police chase that occurred on October 13. The incident began at approximately 2:57 a.m. at a RaceTrac located near the intersection of Old Hammond Highway and Cedarcrest Avenue. According to police documents, two masked men jumped over the counter while a clerk was assisting a customer. The suspects stole approximately $8,702 worth of cigarettes and fled the store in a white Chevrolet Tahoe waiting outside. Officers responded to the scene and pursued the vehicle across the city. The chase concluded when the vehicle drove through the Parkview BREC park and stopped in a driveway on North Parkview Drive. Upon the vehicle's stop, the driver and two suspected robbers fled on foot. Police apprehended the driver, identified as 58-year-old Eddie Carr, who cooperated with investigators. During the search of Carr's vehicle, officers recovered the stolen cigarettes and a stolen firearm. Carr has been charged with simple robbery, aggravated flight from an officer, illegal possession of stolen firearms, resisting an officer, and various traffic violations. Under Louisiana law, aggravated flight involves intentionally refusing to stop for police while endangering human life, such as by speeding significantly over the limit or driving against traffic. Carr identified Green and Bennett as the other suspects involved in the robbery. Warrants have been issued for Green and Bennett carrying the same charges as Carr. As of the latest report, there is no information regarding the custody status of Green or Bennett, and they remain at large. All charges are currently allegations, and no convictions have been secured. The Baton Rouge Police Department is continuing their search for the two outstanding suspects.
