Phoenix police are actively searching for a suspect, described as a male between the ages of 16 and 25, who is wanted in connection with a serious injury incident that occurred on Friday, November 2, 2026. The incident took place during a Halloween party in the desert area near New River and Saddle Mountain roads, close to Lake Pleasant. According to law enforcement, the suspect threw a vehicle shock absorber into a bonfire, causing a violent explosion that sent shrapnel flying. The blast struck multiple individuals, but 16-year-old Jaidynn Penberthy sustained the most severe injuries. Penberthy was knocked unconscious and suffered a broken jaw, multiple facial fractures, missing teeth, and burns. Her brother, Ethan Glass, reported that she lost her pulse for approximately one minute before strangers performed lifesaving measures, including a sternum rub, while friends drove her to seek help. Penberthy was airlifted to a burn center where she underwent facial reconstruction surgery and remains in critical condition, requiring further operations. The suspect fled the scene before officers arrived. Police are urging anyone with information regarding the suspect's identity or whereabouts to come forward. Investigators are particularly interested in locating the individual responsible for the dangerous act that left a teenager with life-altering injuries. The Phoenix Police Department has established a tip line for the public to assist in the manhunt. Individuals with information are encouraged to contact Phoenix police directly or call Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS or 480-TESTIGO for Spanish-language assistance. The community is also being reminded that a GoFundMe account has been established to assist with Penberthy’s extensive medical expenses. Authorities continue to emphasize the severity of the situation and the importance of public cooperation in identifying and apprehending the suspect.
