Former NBA player Ty Lawson is currently the subject of an active arrest warrant issued by Douglas County authorities in Colorado. The warrant was executed last week after Lawson failed to appear for a mandatory court hearing scheduled for October 29, 2026. Although Lawson had previously appeared for a hearing on October 1, his subsequent absence triggered the issuance of the order for arrest. The legal proceedings stem from an incident on July 16, 2026, in Castle Rock, where Lawson was accused of stealing a $34 bottle of Tito’s vodka from a local liquor store. According to a probable cause affidavit, Lawson allegedly took the bottle without paying and consumed it while walking to a nearby restaurant. The affidavit noted that Lawson appeared to be intoxicated at the time, describing him as stumbling around. He was subsequently arrested in July and charged with one count of theft involving less than $300 in shoplifting. The current warrant has set bond at $2,500. Lawson, who played eight seasons in the NBA for teams including the Denver Nuggets and Sacramento Kings, has not yet responded to requests for comment regarding the warrant. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is handling the investigation and is urging the public to assist in locating the former athlete. Individuals with information regarding Lawson’s whereabouts are encouraged to contact the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office tip line or local law enforcement authorities immediately to facilitate his apprehension and return to court.
