On May 24, investigators say Hurst was operating a vehicle reported stolen from a residence on Old Pisgah Highway when officers spotted him near a shopping center in Weaverville. A high-speed chase ensued, traveling south through Buncombe County before concluding near an Enmarket gas station on Merrimon Avenue in Asheville. Upon the vehicle stopping, Hurst exited and fled on foot, and he has not been located since. The Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office recently confirmed that Hurst now faces formal charges, including larceny of a motor vehicle, larceny of a firearm, and possession of a firearm by a felon.
