A 46-year-old Wichita man is the subject of an ongoing law enforcement investigation following a multi-agency officer-involved shooting in Kansas. The suspect is currently wanted by the Wichita Police Department on charges of aggravated battery, criminal damage to property, and criminal threats, which originate from an incident that occurred on June 2. According to official reports, the situation began just after 2:30 a.m. on June 3 when Valley Center police responded to a call regarding a wanted individual at a residence on South Dexter. Officers were informed that the man had recently departed the location and was known to flee from law enforcement, resist arrest, and carry firearms. Shortly after, Park City police located the suspect’s vehicle near North Hartman Arena Drive. When officers attempted a traffic stop, the suspect fled, leading to a brief pursuit that ended when he lost control and crashed through a fence at an RV business. After exiting the vehicle, the suspect fled on foot while armed. Following an extended search, a Sedgwick County Sheriff’s deputy located the suspect, resulting in an exchange of gunfire involving multiple officers from Valley Center, Park City, Maize, and Sedgwick County. Despite repeated commands to surrender, the suspect failed to comply and attempted to retrieve a dropped weapon before being struck by a deputy’s gunfire. He was subsequently taken into custody and transported to a local hospital in serious condition. No law enforcement personnel were injured during the confrontation.
