The Midland Police Department is actively searching for Victor Mata Villarreal, who remains at large after an incident involving a peace officer. Villarreal is wanted on charges of attempted capital murder of a peace officer. The incident occurred late Wednesday night, approximately at 11:23 p.m., in Midland, Texas. According to police reports, officers initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle located in the 4800 block of Anetta. The driver fled the scene, driving for several blocks before coming to a stop in the 4700 block of Comanche. Upon exiting the vehicle, Villarreal allegedly discharged rounds from a rifle at an officer. The officer returned fire, and Villarreal subsequently fled the area in the vehicle. Law enforcement officials later discovered the vehicle abandoned a short distance from the scene. Despite an intensive search operation, Villarreal has not been located. Police have confirmed that the officer involved in the shooting was not injured.
