Friedrich Castillo-Ormeno, a Peruvian national and illegal migrant, remains at large following a violent incident in New Jersey on Monday, June 15, 2026. Authorities report that Castillo-Ormeno, who had been released into the United States under the previous administration and subsequently ordered deported by an immigration judge on January 30, rammed his van into an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent during a targeted vehicle stop. The incident occurred around 9:30 a.m. in Manahawkin, located within Stafford Township. According to ICE spokespersons, officers attempted to pull over the suspect's vehicle, but the driver weaponized the van and struck an officer. In response, the agent discharged his weapon, potentially blowing out the van's back window, before the suspect fled the scene. The injured ICE officer was transported to a nearby area hospital for treatment. Following the collision, Route 72 was closed in both directions as a large-scale manhunt ensued. Aerial footage captured approximately two dozen ICE agents in tactical gear cordoning off the area with yellow crime scene tape. As of early Monday evening, Castillo-Ormeno had not been apprehended, and authorities continue to search for the suspect and his vehicle.
