WILMINGTON, Del. — Two hospital workers were shot Tuesday afternoon inside ChristianaCare’s Wilmington Hospital, prompting a lockdown and an active manhunt for the suspected shooter. Wilmington Police confirmed the incident appears to be a workplace shooting, though officials cautioned that details could change as the scene remains active. Law enforcement told ABC News that preliminary information indicates one hospital employee shot two other employees within the facility, located in the 500 block of West 14th Street. The suspected shooter may have been a temporary employee. Police stated they know the suspect’s identity but have not released their name, age, or physical description to the public as of early Tuesday evening. The conditions of the two injured workers have not been released. Authorities believe the incident was targeted rather than a random attack. Video from the scene showed a significant response from police, fire, and emergency medical services near the hospital’s Emergency Department. Staff members were seen being escorted from the building as police worked to clear the campus. The hospital campus remained on lockdown Tuesday evening, and the Emergency Department was placed on divert, sending incoming patients to other hospitals. Police asked the public to avoid the area.
