An Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent was injured on Monday, June 15, 2026, after being struck by a van while attempting to arrest a suspect in Manahawkin, Ocean County, New Jersey. The incident occurred around midday on Route 72 near Mermaid Drive. According to Stafford Township Police, the agent fired his weapon at the vehicle as it fled the scene. The driver, identified as Friedrich Castillo-Ormeno, escaped and remains at large. Castillo-Ormeno is an undocumented immigrant from Peru who had been ordered removed from the United States in January. ICE officials described the event as part of a pattern of vehicle attacks against their agents. The identity of the injured ICE agent has not been released. Police stated that the agent was transported to a local hospital for treatment, though the severity of his injuries remains unknown.
