The Clarksville Police Department is actively seeking the public's assistance in identifying a suspect wanted in connection with a significant identity theft and check fraud case. The investigation centers on an incident that occurred in late May. According to reports from Clarksville Police Department spokesperson Scott Beaubien, a victim reported on May 27 that a check, originally mailed as a bill payment on May 6, had been intercepted. The suspect allegedly altered the check and fraudulently cashed it on May 7. When the individual attempted to cash the fraudulent instrument, they identified themselves as Daniel Lee Kirby, a name that appeared as the payee on the altered document. Detectives from the District 2 Criminal Investigations Unit have obtained surveillance footage from the financial institution where the check was cashed. This footage provides images of the suspect, which police are hoping will help the public recognize the individual based on their clothing or physical appearance. Authorities are urging anyone who may have information regarding the suspect's identity or location to come forward.
