On the evening of June 16, the suspect allegedly fired randomly from a moving vehicle onto Interstate 670 and Interstate 70, striking five people within a 30-minute window. The rampage resulted in one fatality when a victim's vehicle crashed into a utility pole after being hit, while four others sustained injuries ranging from stable to serious conditions. Among the wounded was an Uber driver transporting Argentine soccer fans to Arrowhead Stadium; he is recovering with non-life-threatening leg wounds. Police located Sanchez-Muñoz at his listed home on June 16 but were forced to retreat when a fire broke out at the property. Upon extinguishing the blaze, officers entered the residence on June 17 only to find the suspect had vanished, though the suspected getaway vehicle was recovered outside. A subsequent search of another Kansas City address on June 18 yielded no results.
