The case began on Wednesday morning when a friend, who had not heard from Shelton in approximately one week, entered his residence located in the 5100 block of Lambs Lane in Southeast Austin. Upon discovering Shelton's body, the friend contacted authorities. Officers responded to the welfare call and pronounced Shelton dead at 11:29 a.m. Homicide detectives subsequently determined that Shelton had been stabbed multiple times. The suspect fled the scene prior to the arrival of law enforcement and remains unidentified and at large. This incident marks the 31st homicide in Austin for the year 2026. Investigators are actively seeking information to locate and arrest the individual responsible for the killing.
