A man is currently at large after a high-speed encounter with Philadelphia Police in North Philadelphia on the evening of June 26, 2026. The incident began around 10:05 p.m. when officers were responding to a report of a person with a gun. Upon locating a vehicle matching the description, the suspect reversed his black Kia, which bore a California license plate, and crashed into a police cruiser. During the maneuver, an officer was thrown into the windshield and over the roof of the vehicle. The suspect, described as wearing a white hat and a white t-shirt, managed to drive away from the scene. The hit-and-run driver abandoned the vehicle on the officer, a 35-year-old 11-year veteran of the force, was transported to a nearby hospital and listed in stable condition. A second officer sustained lacerations and a knee injury. Although the suspect's vehicle was recovered on the 200 block of West Winona Street, the individual remains at large. Philadelphia Police Inspector D.F. Pace confirmed the suspect is wanted and noted that body-worn camera footage is being reviewed to gather additional information.
