Authorities are seeking a masked gunman who robbed a Chase Bank in the Town of Boonton on Saturday afternoon. The incident occurred at 530 Myrtle Ave., where law enforcement responded around 1:57 p.m. to reports of a bank robbery. The suspect, described as a white man believed to be in his 50s, entered the bank wearing a black suit, dark-colored tie, black gloves, sunglasses, and a ski mask. He brandished a pistol, demanded money, and fled with approximately $12,000 in cash. Following the robbery, the suspect reportedly fled the scene in a gray or silver Honda Odyssey. While social media reports suggested the suspect was detained during a motor vehicle stop on Interstate 80, prosecutors have clarified that these accounts are incorrect, confirming the individual remains at large. The Morris County Prosecutor's Office is leading the investigation and is asking the public to assist in identifying the armed suspect.
